GAA All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final experience just got better
11th August 2011
Croke Park is ramping up its match day activities with a line-up that includes great sporting action family fun, fanzone activities, music and entertainment.
Sport is all about experiences and now, thanks to the roll out of new Croke Park match-day entertainment, the GAA is ensuring your All-Ireland Hurling semi-final experience will be one to remember.
Long before the sporting action starts, supporters can enjoy some of the pre match and activities in the Cusack Fanzone opposite the GAA Museum. Over 3,500 fans have already had their pictures taken with the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire cups and meeting supporters at the Fanzone this Sunday will be none other than Hector Ó hEochagáin. The Meath man will bring his inimitable brand of fun to proceedings along with a DJ and street entertainers including Billy Bubbles. Kids, big and small, can also try their hand with the hurl at Centra’s hurling cage simulator.
The sporting bill features Dublin v Waterford in the minor game at 1.30pm and senior action from Dublin v Tipperary at 3.30pm. Inside the bowl activities will include live pitch-side interviews with Hector and well-known GAA personalities. Supporters can also give their views and who knows, your analysis could be broadcast on the stadium’s big screens! And, if you don’t get picked for your punditry prowess, you could still be the lucky spectator chosen as the ‘Face in the Crowd’ with a fantastic prize on offer. The Croke Park roving cameraman will choose one lucky winner on Sunday who will appear on the big screen so be sure to have your county colours flying!
To top it all off, Daithí Ó’Drónaí, one of Ireland’s leading young musical talents will display the virtuoso fiddling skills at half-time of the main game. Brought to national prominence on the All Ireland Talent Show, Daithí recently reached number 6 in the UK Indie download charts.
