The area of sustainability is one which can really help to stimulate Ireland’s economic recovery. Critical to that recovery is the creation of sustainable employment and we believe there are huge opportunities in this area and that the GAA can play a key role through our club network. We, along with Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club, are delighted to be working with the ESB Electric Ireland on this pilot and hope that the community in Tralee will participate in the pilot and engage local contractors to carry out energy upgrade works.

Sustainability 10k Initiative
The Sustainability 10k initiative was set up by the GAA who believe they have a part to play a part in helping to stimulate Ireland’s economic recovery. Critical to that recovery is the creation of sustainable employment and the GAA believes there are huge opportunities in the environmental sector. Their vision is to create 10,000 sustainable jobs in Ireland in the energy, waste and water sectors and to this end, they created a forum of leading companies and organisations to work on the initiative and undertake pilot projects in different regions around the country in conjunction with local GAA clubs. This is the second pilot to be undertaken. The first was launched in Clonakilty last July in association with the SEAI.
