Junior Teams in Croke Park

The GAA Museum and The Irish Times are delighted to announce that a winning essay has been chosen for the Transition Year Essay Competition.

The winner of the competition is Eithne Nic An Ríogh, from Louth, who wrote her essay on Bloody Sunday, 1920.

Eithne’s essay was chosen from a high number of well-written essays due to the level of original research conducted, the quality of the sources used and the manner in which this evidence was presented. Speaking about the essay, Sean Freyne, a member of the Museum Governing Board and one of the judges of the competition, stated ‘It was well researched and in addition the use of the Grandfather as narrator was creative and worked very well…the background knowledge was well demonstrated and used to good effect. Ranked first’

The GAA Museum received a great number of entries and would like to thank all those entered the competition.
